Audi is launching a drop-top version of its A5 coupe next year. Unlike its competitors, it will use a fabric roof, which will open in 15 seconds and close in 17. The system can be operated when the car is in motion, at speeds up to 31mph. Owners can pay extra for an acoustic roof option for a quieter cabin environment. Another feature specific to the cabriolet is heat-reflecting upholstery, to keep seats cool during prolonged exposure to sunlight.The A5 Cabriolet will be offered with 211hp 2.0 and 265 3.2 TFSI petrol engines and a 240hp 3.0 TDI diesel. The S5 high performance version will be powered by Audi’s new 3.0 supercharged V6 TFSI unit. Both S5 and the A5 3.0 TDI will feature quattro all-wheel drive as standard. Order books open in February for spring delivery, with pries from around £30,000 to £42,000. (continued)
