MERCEDES BENZ E-Class

An all-new Mercedes-Benz e-Class saloon will go on sale in the UK in June, marking significant advances in fuel efficiency, environmental performance, safety and comfort.

A comprehensive engineering programme has yielded significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption improvements in the range of four diesel and five petrol engines – all of which meet forthcoming EU5 emissions regulations.

The range includes three new four-cylinder CDI diesels, with emissions starting at 136g/km and fuel economy from 53.3mpg (combined). There are also new turbocharged 1.8-litre E200/E250 CGI petrol engines, plus E350 and E500 V6 and V8 units. A stop-and-start system will be available on the E200 from autumn 2009.

New safety features on the E-Class include headlights that automatically adjust to avoid dazzling on-coming traffic; a sensor system that detects driver drowsiness; and automatic emergency braking when the vehicle senses a collision is imminent. Adaptiv

The new model will be offered in SE, Avantgarde, Sport and, later in the year, Exclusive trims.
